Lowes announces promotion to UFC, joins UFCW in Las Vegas
Lowes announced its promotion to the UFCW as part of a $1.4 billion merger, bringing it into the UFC’s fold.
The announcement comes just a week after Lowes, the second-largest home improvement retailer in the United States, announced it would begin airing the UFC at its new, expanded Las Vegas location in the early days of the new year.
The UFCW will have its own on-demand video content and will also serve as a primary home improvement store for UFCW events.
Lowes announced Monday that it will be the primary home improvements retailer for the UFC for two years.
The company will also offer a UFCW-branded home improvement channel that will air live events and provide access to other UFCW promotions.
Lowes has been one of the few retailers to remain competitive in the home improvement market after years of consolidation.
The store, which will open in January, has become a hub for the sport, as well as a popular destination for locals and visitors to Las Vegas.
“Our home improvement stores have served us well for years and have become an important part of our community, and the UFC was an easy decision for Lowes to take,” said UFCW Vice President of Public Relations Dave Bischoff.
“Our members have embraced the UFC and we have been able to attract a loyal customer base that continues to grow.
We’re very excited to partner with Lowes and their growing community to bring the UFC to Las.
Vegas and beyond.”UFCW president Joe Silva said Lowes’ announcement is a natural extension of the organization’s strategy to provide a unified home improvement network for the entire state of Nevada.
He said the UFC will be headquartered in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and that the UFCw will be expanding to Las Angeles in 2017.
The new partnership with Lowies is the first time that the two organizations will have worked together.UFCW will be holding an event in Las Caesars Palace in the coming weeks.
