Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his ministers have been receiving a golden shower for years, but it’s getting to the point where the government doesn’t have enough money to pay its bills.
According to a report in The Jerusalem Times, some of the premier’s ministerial staff received an average of more than $5,000 worth of gifts from the likes of Amazon, eBay, Google, Nike and Twitter.
One of Netanyahu’s closest aides received a total of $9,000, according to the report.
The report said the prime minister has also been spending on more than 20 different special trips, and that some of them have been attended by celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio, Meryl Streep and James Franco.
The Prime Minister’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Netanyahu has a history of making money from his positions, as his son Isaac heads up the Labor party.
The party received a whopping $4.5 million in 2017, according a report by Israel Democracy Institute, which said that Netanyahu is one of the top donors to Israeli parties.
